Pork Siomai (Shumai)

Siomai is always a win! You can pair this with rice or even with pancit. Don?t forget to make your delicious toyo-mansi with chili sauce for this.

Ingredients

  • 1 pack siomai wrapper
  • 1/2 kilo Monterey Ground Lean Pork (Kasim)
  • 250 grams Monterey Pork Fatback, coarsely chopped
  • 100 grams shrimps, shelled and diced
  • 250 grams turnips, grated and squeezed
  • 1/3 cup spring onions, chopped
  • 1 pc egg
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tsp refined salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Mix siomai filling ingredients in a bowl. Set aside in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

  2. Fill each siomai wrapper with 2 tsps filling. Steam for 8 to 10 minutes.

  3. Serve warm with a dip made of soy sauce and freshly-squeezed calamansi juice.

  4. Serving good for 45 pieces.
