Place cubed beef in a large pot.
Add the seasonings and spices except the last three ingredients (cornstarch, water, and sesame oil).
Cover the pot and bring to a boil over high heat.
When mixture has boiled, lower heat and allow to simmer for 2 ½ hours or until meat is fork-tender.
Add water if necessary.
Season with salt and pepper if desired.
Add water and cornstarch mixture.
